NEW GRADUATE RN

FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The New Graduate RN Fellowship Program is designed as a component of the formal orientation at UNC Health Lenoir but is specific for the newly graduated nurse. Over the course of 12-16 weeks, new graduates are partnered with preceptors who have experience in practice. New graduate RNs will participate in a variety of education sessions to help them become confident and competent UNC Health Lenoir nurses.


These sessions include a skills day, Stroke Care Boot Camp, Crisis Prevention, four critical thinking classes, and four rotations in different departments throughout the hospital.
They will also receive support from a mentor during their first year as a new RN.

  • Pulmonary cases & SBAR

  • Cardiac cases & interprofessional communication

  • Fluid balance / Renal cases & policy scavenger hunt

  • Neuro cases & prioritization

  • Diabetes educator

  • Cardio/Cath Lab

  • Surgery

  • Monitor Tech

  • Case Management

  • Administrative Supervisor

  • Skincare team

  • Behavior Health Specialist

  • EMS ride-along
